Wake up call at 8.10 am on a Sunday is never a pleasant thing for me. But that day, what lay ahead for me to discover, though I had not much idea about the trip, geared me up and in no time our small adventure group was gathered. It's 9 am on a bright Sunday morning, when we, a group of 9 young foreigners finally set out to experience what Xi'an and its surrounding regions had to offer.

It being our first ever trip to CUI HUA Mountain, we had little idea about how to get there .Fortunately with the help of the local people we finally got on the wright bus. However standing nearly on tip toes in an overcrowded bus, I could feel my enthusiasm level going down drastically. That’s when the real journey started. Slowly, we left the crowded city area n entered a more eye soothing environment. Blocks of concrete buildings were now replaced by endless green fields, trees and cattle!

It was a new Xi'an for looked like the countryside of my home country. There was greenery all around...a refreshing atmosphere. I must say I was pleasantly surprised since I am a new comer in Xi'an who has seen mainly the city till now.

As we neared our stop, after nearly one hour of bus ride, we were greeted with rivers and mountain peaks appearing in the distance. Standing at the entrance of the park I gazed upwards at the impressive heights. I was sure I will like the whole experience. The first thing that attracted me though ,were the tables and chairs, some set in a river bed itself for picnickers who seemed to be having a great family time. That was a unique, interesting feature and I almost regretted of not planning a picnic here.

Moving further we came across several small waterfalls and rivers. It was a time to relax by  listening to the nice sound of water running by , enjoying the fresh air and of course a golden time to go back in childhood and play in the cool waters. Feeling the drops of water  on my face, rushing from the waterfall was a great refreshing experience. I was sure by then that the 35 Yuan student ticket we bought will be worth  its each penny!!! And needless to say, as you pass the entrance gate you will find endless photo spots .

Now that we were all so keen, we opted to walk till the top to discover the region by ourselves. Going by bus drive, which is also provided on the site will ruin all the fun, we thought. Brave , we started the ascent  and that too choosing the tough routes. More than once, we thought that the stairs would never end, but every sigh of tiredness would be washed away by the beauty of the nature scenes being offered to us. I was mesmerised by amazing sceneries of mountain valleys, mountain peaks and came accross many view points where one can take some rest, enjoy nature's wonders and maybe find some Chinese people there whom to befriend.

I cannot really describe the sceneries, it is just an unique experience which will leave you with a smile and realise the beauty of nature. At some places you will just want to spread your arms and feel the cool air on your whole body.

When we finally reached the big lake, we were exhausted for sure but the sight of the blue water and the background heights just wins over. I let out a big "....WOW...."

The site also offers interesting attractions like speed boating among others, which you wouldn't like to miss. They bring some more excitement to the whole trip pumping up your level of adrenaline a bit.

And it does not end here, we continued our discovery towards the numerous caves and higher view points. The site has many caves, but no one can miss the ice cave…or should I say the ice cave will not allow you to miss it!!! The temperature drop we experienced by just walking pass the cave was amazing, we had to stop and go towards it...

Time always seem to fly in places like those. Before we could see everything , it was already time to return .Going back on foot didn't seem a good option now, hungry as we were not that you can't buy food and drinks while going up .You'll find many small shops on your way. But the ascent itself was around 2 hrs and now going down seemed exhausting. Descent was therefore on the bus, and that was fun too.

We passed some scenery spots again giving me a last chance to capture the beauty in my mind and in my camera too!! I returned to my dormitory thinking that it could not have been a better day. I started the day having only a vague idea of where I was heading to and ended the day with a whole new aspect of Xi'an and its surroundings in my mind.

However some questions still lingered, answers of which I just had to why is the temperature so much cooler at the ice cave? I came across some interesting sites on the net where you will get all the information you need on CUI HUA Mountain. That is up to you to find out.

My purpose here was just to give a short personal experience about the journey. Now it's your turn to make your own experiences and memories.
