![]() The most popular museum, the Qin Shi Huang Terracotta Warriors Museum cannot open completely for free, but timetables should be determined to gradually reduce the ticket price and eventually make them free of charge. Altogether, there are now 12 Museums which are open to anyone for free. No less than 43 museums will be opened for free in 2010, as stated on the Shaanxi Government website. It is well known that Xi'an is one of the oldest cities in the country and incredibly rich in artifacts, relicts and ancient places. It is more than logical that more museums are being opened in the city. And more should be made free of charge so that Chinese people are well read on their own history with free access. Be aware that, if you plan to visit one of those museums in Xi'an these days you might encounter endless line-ups and waiting times of 1-2 hours (especially on weekends). In 3 years time, so it is planned, Xi'an wants to double its number of museums. This goal is possible with private financiers and institutions. A small selection of museums in Xi'an:
