Local people's leisure life in Xing Qing Park: Xi'an is the most historical and culture city of China similar to Kyoto to Japan and the best way to have the exposure to the City people's lesiure life is the parks around here. Xing Qing Park is the biggest and most beautiful among the all. Vistors were required to pay 5-10RMB for entrance before but it's been free for almost one and half year. The park is prefectly made for the recreational activities for all aged people.

There is a beautiful lake right in the middle of the park where you can go boarting and make a lap around it as a recreational walk. I'm sure your eyes won't miss some of the cultural leisure activities if you walk around the lake in summer  such as painting potery, drawing pictures, flying kites and so on. The park gets a great acceptance from the retired people here. There are several places in the park where the retired people sing the traditional Qin opera. They are professional at playing different kinds of Chinese musical instruments to compose the music of Qin opera.

The GeMing Park in Xi'an has more to offer than big green trees and cultural performances: "Look there!" Klaus said excited. "Three people on that little motorbike!" We only laughed... that is nothing, we have seen four or five people on one! "Have you seen? They carry a little baby! And none of them wears a helmet!"

“And over there! That guy is sleeping lying on his motorbike! How does he manage?”

“And the dog crossed the street! Did you see it? I thought I was going to see it die! It went until the white line, watched, waited and went until the next line and then to the other side. Incredible!”. On the Bell tower we spent a long time watching the traffic. “It is an amazing roundabout!” Klaus said.

The Great Mosque of Xi'an is a tranquil and historic mosque that has served Xi'an's Muslim community for more than a millennium. The largest and best preserved of the ancient mosques of China, its buildings are a fascinating fusion of Chinese and Arabian styles.

A mosque was first built on this site on Hua Jue Lane as early as the 700s AD, but the current complex was laid out during the Ming Dynasty in the late 14th century. Tradition says the Great Mosque was founded by the naval admiral Cheng Ho, son of a prestigious Muslim family who became famous for expelling pirates from the China Sea.

At the time the mosque was just outside the Ming city walls in a neighborhood for foreigners. Today the neighborhood and the mosque are part of the city. Most of the present buildings were rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Much like Beijing 798 and Shanghai 1933, Xi'an has an art district called Textile town. The district is not an actual town but derives its name from the many textile factories built there since the 1950s. Xi’an Textile City Arts District is situated at Textile City in east Xi’an, which used to be a huge industrial complex in the construction period of new China.

Now the factories and plants have been regenerated to art studios, art schools, sculpture centers and other art institutions including Xi’an Center of More Art, the most vigorous exhibition space of contemporary art. Today it is a new art factory with 4 workshops in total. Since March 2007, more than 40 artists have taken a part in these workshops.

How would Xi’an Textile City Arts District, this spontaneous creativity industry zone and a complex of artist workshops, develop and influence the industrial structure and people’s life in Textile City? It is an open question with answers bringing to the ancient capital of Xi’an a different and surprising appearance.
