Description

The DIGITAL ART WEEKS programme is concerned with the application of digital technology in the arts. Consisting of symposia, workshops and performances, the Digital Art Weeks programme offers insight into current research and innovations in art and technology as well as illustrates resulting synergies in an exhibition and a series of performances during the Festival each year, making artists aware of impulses in technology and scientists aware of the possibilities of application of technology in the arts.

The organizing group behind the Digital Art Weeks is engaged with their second large art and technology project for China. Similar to the “PlayTime“ Project in 2008 that was conceived and realized by the group for the ETH in partnership with swisnex shanghai, this year's project will take place in Xi’an and will continue to focus on innovation in the presentation of scientific and artistic research within the context of cultural exchange with the goal of mutual enrichment and knowledge transfer. The transdisciplinary approach that has been taken by the Digital Art Weeks group over the years has formed a solid basis for collaborative art and research, and provides multiple and mutual benefits for all partners involved. The educational settings in which the events takes place are of interest not only in the areas of arts and science but also in areas of educational exchange and activity.

The Digital Art Weeks programme for Xian, China will continue its focus on innovation in the presentation of scientific and artistic research within the context of cultural exchange with the goal of mutual enrichment and knowledge transfer. Included in the activities are an academically-orientated conference, several new media art exhibitions and several festival events, which joins parallel departments of partner institutes in Europe, North America and Asia to expand transdisciplinary research generally, and to nurture cooperation on the academic levels in the areas of arts and science of participating institutes.
